Characterisation of Silver Nanohelices

For Development of a new chiroptical technique in photonics materials research

A Chirascan case study.

Collins Et Al

In this study, optical activity in second-harmonic hyper-Rayleigh scattering was demonstrated. For this purpose, suspensions of spring-shaped silver wires were used as chiroptical metamolecules.

The successful production of left- and right-handed enantiomorphs of these nanohelices was confirmed by CD spectroscopy, as evidenced by the characteristic reversed spectral signatures in the UV/Vis.
